Adopt-a-Book Program

The Adopt-a-Book Program is the Archives and Special Collections Library's new program to fund conservation treatment for fragile and damaged items.

Location

The Archives and Special Collections Library is located on the ground floor of the Ingram Library addition (north end) of the Main Library.


Fall 2009 Hours (by appointment only)

Regular semester (September 8 - December 15)

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 10-5 (closed 12-1)
  • Tuesday: 10-8 (closed 12-1)

October break (October 16-25)

  • Due to unforeseen circumstances, Special Collections will be closed to research during October Break.

Winter break (December 16-22 and January 4-20)

  • Monday-Friday: 10-5 (closed 12-1)

Directions and Local Arrangements

Travel by Car:     

Directions to Vassar can be found on the college's Visitors page, or if using a map search engine, the address to use is 124 Raymond Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12604. 

Travel by Train:  

The Metro North Communter Rail has hourly service from Grand Central Terminal to Poughkeepsie.  There is also less-frequent service via Amtrak from Penn Station.

Travel by Air:      

Stewart International Airport in Newburgh is the nearest airport to Vassar, but Albany International and the NYC metropolitan airports are also within 2 hours.


Parking:               

Enter campus through the main entrance off the southern-most Raymond Avenue circle and check in with the guards to receive a visitor parking pass. 

Accommodations within 1 mile of campus:

          - Vassar's Alumnae House is on campus and a short walk from the Library.

          - The Days Inn is approximately 4 blocks from campus but is also walkable.

          - The Copper Penny Inn is just under 1 mile from the Library, but the route

          it's on does not have sidewalks.
