Apartheid

"Is It Vassar's Time to Divest?" Unscrewed [Vassar Student Newspaper], October 1985.

In 1985 Vassar joined other colleges and universities across the country in committing to selling all holdings in companies doing business in South Africa that did not comply with the Sullivan Principles; i.e., did not promote the employment of black South Africans or in some way encourage reform of Apartheid. Vassar's divestment was enacted in several phases, concluding with complete divestiture in 1988. See item in checklist.
